Most of our Foley calls come from Downtown Foley and the OWA area, though we work the whole Baldwin County side of it and get out to Daphne regularly.
Door problems in Foley tend to sort into two groups: older homes where the frames and jambs have taken decades of weather, and newer builds where the hardware was the cheapest part of the package and has already given up.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Foley. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The frame flexes visibly when you pull the handleFailed corner keys, which is why the whole frame is racking rather than sliding.
- The spline has lifted out of the channel at a cornerShrunken or hardened spline, usually after several summers of UV exposure.
- Pets have pushed through the bottomA rescreen with pet-resistant mesh and often a pet grille.
- The screen track itself is damagedThe channel the screen rides in has been bent or worn.
- It takes real effort to slideSeized rollers or a track full of packed debris.
- The storm door blew open and bent the armNo wind chain fitted, or a failed hold-open washer on the closer.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What we see on screen door repair around Baldwin County
Salt air is the single biggest factor on the coast. It attacks the steel inside roller bearings, hinge pins, latch mechanisms and closer springs, and it does it year round whether or not a storm ever comes.
Wind gets behind a screen panel and pushes it out of the track, and on hinged screen and storm doors a gust catching the door is what tears closers out of the frame.
Blowing sand abrades screen mesh and packs into the screen track, and a screen track full of sand will not let a panel roll no matter how good the rollers are.
None of it is a reason to replace a door. It is a reason to use the right parts and set the door up correctly in the first place.
Local factors we account for in Foley: storm wind and blowing sand — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895How we approach screen door repair
- Check whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that keeps coming out is usually a roller and track problem, and rescreening it would not solve anything.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Choose mesh for the jobStandard, pet-resistant, solar or fine insect mesh. The right one depends on the door, the exposure and what tore the last one.
- Rescreen with correct tensionToo tight and the frame bows, too loose and it billows. Even tension is what keeps a screen flat and quiet. Coastal jobs get stainless or coated fixings as standard, since anything else here is a return visit waiting to happen.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting.
- Check it stays in the trackA screen that can be lifted out is one gust from being on the patio, so the height and the guides get set properly.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Foley
Every screen door repair call in Baldwin County is a little different, and the cost follows what the door actually needs:
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- the size of the panel
- storm door hardware such as closers and latches
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Foley.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Foley: questions we get asked
Can you make a screen that keeps out the tiny biting insects?
Yes, fine no-see-um mesh. It has a much tighter weave, and in the parts of Baldwin County near water it is the only thing that actually works against the smallest biters.
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Foley summers.
My storm door blew open and broke. Can it be repaired?
Usually yes: the closer and its mounting take the damage. We repair the mounting and fit a wind chain so the next gust does not do the same thing.
Do you repair storm doors as well as screens?
Yes, including closers, latches, sweeps, hinges and glass or screen inserts. Storm door closers that have torn out of the frame after a gust are one of the most common calls.
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Foley are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
What mesh should I use if I have dogs?
Pet-resistant mesh, which is a heavier vinyl-coated polyester, and often a pet grille across the lower section. Standard fiberglass will not survive a dog that pushes against it.
