Most of our Headland calls come from Downtown Headland and the square, though we work the whole Henry County side of it and get out to Abbeville regularly.
Headland has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

- Fogging or haze between the panesThe insulated glass seal has failed and moisture is inside the unit.
- The whole pane has shattered into small piecesTempered glass has broken as designed. It needs a full replacement unit.
- A pane that rattles in its frameFailed glazing beads or dried-out glazing compound.
- Visible distortion or waviness in the glassThe unit has bowed, often after long-term seal failure.
- Excessive heat coming through door glassFailed low-E coating or an old single-pane unit.

The Wiregrass gets punishing summer heat and enough tropical rain that hurricane remnants are a normal part of the year, not an exception. Sally and Michael both did door and window damage this far inland.
Blown sand etches the exposed face of door glass over time, leaving a haze that cannot be polished out, and it also abrades glazing gaskets until they no longer hold the unit properly.
Storm wind flexes a large glass panel in its frame and drives debris at it, and even a small impact that leaves a chip at the edge of tempered glass can cause the whole panel to let go weeks later.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Headland summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Headland: blowing sand and storm wind — typical of the Wiregrass.

- Make the opening safe firstIf glass is broken we secure or board the opening before anything else happens.
- Measure and identify the unitThickness, spacer, coating, tempering and any obscure pattern all have to match, or the replacement will look wrong even if it fits.
- Specify the right glazingTempered where code requires it, low-E where the original had it, laminated where security or noise matters.
- Strip the old unit cleanlyBeads and gaskets come off without damaging the frame, and the rebate gets cleaned back to a sound surface.
- Set the new unit properlyCorrect setting blocks, bead sequence and sealant so the unit is supported and drains. In the Wiregrass we check tracks and channels for fine sand, which grinds moving parts flat faster than anything else in the state.
- Check the drainage before closing upA glazing rebate that cannot drain will fail the new unit the same way it failed the old one.
Most doors we see are repairable.Call and find out before you price a replacement.
Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of door glass repair in Headland
Pricing on door glass repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- whether the frame or glazing beads also need repair
- single pane versus insulated double-pane construction
- emergency board-up before the replacement glass arrives
- the size of the glass unit and whether it is tempered or laminated
- low-E coatings, tints and obscure glass options
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Headland.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Door glass repair in Headland: questions we get asked
How long does the replacement glass take to arrive?
Insulated and tempered units are custom made to the measured size, so it is days rather than hours. We measure precisely, board up if needed, and fit as soon as the unit arrives.
Is condensation on the inside of my door glass a seal failure?
Not necessarily. Moisture on the room-side surface is usually humidity and cold glass. Moisture trapped between the panes is a seal failure. The difference matters, because one is a glass problem and the other is not.
What about impact-resistant glass?
Laminated glazing holds together when it breaks and is worth considering on exposed openings, ground-floor doors and anywhere in Henry County that takes serious storm exposure.
Can you replace just the glass and keep my door?
In most cases, yes. That is the whole point of glass replacement. Sliding panels, French door lites and entry door inserts can nearly always be reglazed in place.
Will new glass help with heat coming through my patio door?
Yes, if you go to a low-E insulated unit. In Headland summers the heat coming through an old single-pane or failed unit is significant, and the difference in the room is noticeable.
How quickly can broken door glass be secured?
Board-up comes first and happens as fast as we can get to you in Headland. The replacement glass is made to order, so the sequence is usually secure now, glass shortly after.
