We service every part of Saks, including the Saks Road corridor and US-431 north, and the nearby Calhoun County towns like Oxford and Jacksonville.
A lot of what we see in Calhoun County comes down to age. Houses built decades ago have solid frames with tired hardware; houses built recently have sound hardware in frames that are still settling.

These are the interior door repair faults we are called out to most often in Saks. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- A bathroom door that has locked with someone insideFailed privacy latch or a jammed emergency release.
- Bifold doors jumping their trackWorn pivots and top guides.
- A pocket door off its rollersFailed roller hangers inside the wall pocket.
- The door swings open or closed on its ownHinge line out of plumb.
- It will not latch without pushingThe strike and latch are no longer aligned.
- Doors that will not close in humid monthsSeasonal swelling on a door that already had marginal clearance.

Storms coming off the ridges dump a lot of water in a short time, and any door with a compromised threshold pan will show it on the floor inside.
Interior doors move seasonally with the house, and the dry heated air of winter shrinks door slabs enough that latches that fit tightly in summer start rattling in January.
When a foundation moves, interior doors report it before anything else in the house does, and several doors sticking in the same part of a house at the same time is a pattern worth paying attention to.
It is why the same repair done properly in Saks lasts, and the same repair done cheaply does not.
Local factors we account for in Saks: winter freezes and soil movement — typical of the Appalachian foothills.

- Ask which doors and whenOne door is a door problem. Five doors on one floor is a building problem, and the fix is different.
- Diagnose sag versus swelling versus frame movementThey look identical from a distance and need completely different fixes.
- Adjust before cuttingPlaning a door is permanent. We correct hinges and strikes first, because most sticking doors do not need any material removed.
- Repair the hardware properlyStripped hinge holes get rebuilt rather than packed with matchsticks.
- Set the latch to close quietlyThe strike is adjusted so the door closes with a light push and stays shut without rattling in the airflow. In the foothills we check exposure on each elevation, since a door on the weather side ages at a completely different rate to one that is sheltered.
- Leave the set consistentDoors through a house should feel the same to use. We adjust the others while we are there rather than leaving one odd one.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of interior door repair in Saks
Every interior door repair call in Calhoun County is a little different, and the cost follows what the door actually needs:
- hollow core versus solid core doors
- how many doors are being worked on in one visit
- whether the frame also needs correcting
- trimming doors to clear new flooring
- specialty hardware such as pocket, bifold and barn door systems
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Saks.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Interior door repair in Saks: questions we get asked
My bathroom door locked with a child inside. Can that be prevented?
Yes. Privacy sets have an emergency release on the outside, and if it did not work the latch has failed and needs replacing. It is a cheap part and worth doing on every privacy door in the house.
Can you hang a barn door properly?
Yes, and the important part is the backing. Barn door track has to be fixed into solid framing, not into drywall with anchors, or the whole thing eventually pulls off the wall.
Are bifold closet doors worth repairing?
Usually yes. The pivots and top guides are inexpensive parts and they are what fails. The doors themselves are rarely the problem.
How many doors can you do in one visit?
Most of a typical house. Interior door work is quick once we are on site, and doing them together is far better value than calling us back for each one.
Do you replace interior doors as well as repair them?
Yes. A new slab hung in the existing frame is a common job and much simpler than replacing the whole frame and casing.
My bedroom door sticks at the top. Do I need to plane it?
Probably not, and we would try everything else first. Sticking at the top corner is usually hinge sag, and correcting the hinges brings the door back without removing any material. Planing is permanent and it is the last resort, not the first.
