Can you fix a frame without disturbing the interior trim?
Usually. Most frame repairs can be done from the outside or from the door edge without pulling casing off the wall, which matters if the trim is original or the walls have just been painted.
Why does the bottom of my door frame keep rotting out?
Water is getting to it and staying there. That means a failed threshold, a missing sill pan, a drip cap that is not shedding water, or ground and mulch sitting too high against the sill. Replacing the wood without fixing the water just resets the clock.
Why does my door bind at just one corner?
The frame is out of square. In Roanoke that is usually the house moving, and the corner that binds tells us which direction it moved. Planing the door to fit hides it for a season but does not fix it.
Will fixing the frame fix my lock problems?
