We take Roanoke work across the whole town, Downtown Roanoke through Main Street, and we cross into Valley and Lanett on the same trips.
The mix of housing here matters for door work. Older Roanoke homes have wood frames and hardware worth repairing rather than replacing, while newer construction tends to have vinyl and aluminum systems where the moving parts wear out long before anything else does.

These are the window repair faults we are called out to most often in Roanoke. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- Water pools on the sill track and does not clearBlocked weep slots. Water that cannot leave the track finds its way inside.
- The glazing bead is loose along one edgeShrinkage or failed fasteners, which lets water into the glazing rebate.
- Fogging between the panesThe insulated glass seal has failed and moisture is inside the unit.
- Condensation and mold on the interior sillPoor sealing, poor thermal performance, or a humidity problem worth diagnosing.
- A slider window has worn a groove in its trackFailed rollers running on bare track, and the track will need attention as well as the rollers.
- The window is painted shutCommon on older wood windows and reversible with careful work.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895How conditions in Roanoke affect window repair
Spring storm lines come through fast here and put a lot of wind pressure on doors before the rain even starts.
High humidity saturates the desiccant in a sealed glass unit quickly once its seal has begun to fail, and it also keeps wood sashes at a moisture content where rot can get started.
Grit in slider window tracks and in balance channels increases friction, and that extra drag is what breaks balances and wears rollers out early.
None of it is a reason to replace a door. It is a reason to use the right parts and set the door up correctly in the first place.
Local factors we account for in Roanoke: sustained humidity and grit and dust — typical of east central Alabama.

- Identify the window type and manufacturerBalances, operators and hardware are specific, and getting the right part is most of the job.
- Test each moving part separatelyBalances, operator, hinges and lock get checked independently so one stiff component does not disguise another. In east Alabama we check exposure and seasonal movement together, since most openings here see both and the combination is what causes failures.
- Check the drainageBlocked weep slots put water on the sill and into the wall, and they are behind a lot of what gets blamed on the glass.
- Repair rather than replace where it makes senseBalances, operators, locks and glass units are all serviceable parts. A whole window is rarely the honest answer.
- Reseal properlyNew weatherstrip and glazing seals so the window performs as it should.
- Check it holds where you leave itA sash that creeps down after a few minutes has not been fixed, so we leave it open and come back to it before finishing.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of window repair in Roanoke
What a window repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- wood repair and rot splicing where the frame is damaged
- glass unit size, tempering and low-E coatings
- single window versus several in one visit
- screen work alongside the window repair
- the type of window and whether replacement hardware is still available
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Roanoke.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Window repair in Roanoke: questions we get asked
When is a window genuinely not worth repairing?
When the frame itself has failed structurally or the window is so far gone that repair costs approach replacement. That is a much smaller set of windows than you would think from replacement advertising, and we will tell you when you are in it.
Why will my window not lock anymore?
The sash has dropped or shifted, so the lock and keeper no longer meet. Forcing it can break the lock, and the actual fix is usually alignment rather than new hardware.
How do I stop condensation on my windows in winter?
Some of it is indoor humidity rather than the window. But if the glass surface is cold enough to condense heavily, the unit may have failed. In Roanoke it is worth checking whether the moisture is on the surface or between the panes.
My window will not stay open. What is broken?
The balances. On a double hung window they counterweight the sash, and when one fails the sash drops. It is a replaceable part and far cheaper than a new window.
Can foggy windows be repaired?
The sealed glass unit gets replaced, but the frame, sash and hardware stay. That is the repair, and it costs a fraction of window replacement.
Can you replace glass without replacing the whole window?
Yes, in nearly all cases. Broken panes, cracked glass and failed insulated units are all replaceable in the existing frame.
